A short history

Viking seafarers from Norway raided and traded across Europe from the late 8th century. Norway was later united with Denmark for centuries and then with Sweden from 1814. It became fully independent in 1905 and was occupied by Germany during the Second World War. Oil discoveries from the late 1960s made it one of the richest countries in the world.
