A short history

Warsaw became Poland's capital in 1596. It suffered heavily in WWII, including the 1943 Ghetto Uprising and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. Afterward about 85 percent of the city lay in ruins. The Old Town was rebuilt from paintings and drawings.
