EtiquetteIbiza is relaxed and tolerant, but cover up in towns and churches. Nightlife starts very late, often after midnight, and noise rules apply in residential areas.
  • Summer is crowded and expensive; May, June and late September are calmer.
  • The airport is a short drive from Ibiza Town, and buses connect it with the main towns.
  • Many clubs and restaurants close in winter.
  • Taxis are scarce at night in high season; plan ahead.

A short history

Phoenicians founded the town in the 7th century BC. Carthaginians and Romans followed. The Spanish crown built the walls in the 16th century. UNESCO listed the island's heritage in 1999.
