A short history

Hiroshima was founded as a castle town in 1589. On August 6, 1945, it became the first city struck by an atomic bomb, killing tens of thousands instantly. The Atomic Bomb Dome was preserved as a memorial. The rebuilt city declared itself a city of peace.
