A short history

Danish Vikings raided and settled across Europe from the 8th century. Denmark later ruled a large Nordic realm, including Norway until 1814. It became a constitutional monarchy in 1849 and was occupied by Germany in the Second World War. Today it is a prosperous welfare state and part of the EU.
