A short history

Milan was a Roman city and later a capital of the Western Roman Empire. Under the Visconti and Sforza families it became a Renaissance power, and Leonardo painted The Last Supper there. It became Italy's industrial and financial center in the 1900s. Milan has long been a centre of finance and industry, and it is Italy's fashion and design capital.
