A short history

Liverpool grew from a small port in the 13th century into one of the British Empire's largest trading ports, linked to the slave trade, cotton and migration to the Americas. Waves of Irish, Welsh, Chinese and other communities shaped the city. The Beatles emerged here in the 1960s. Its waterfront was once a UNESCO site, and the city has undergone big regeneration since the 2000s.
