A short history

Bratislava sat on the Danube trade route and was the coronation city of Hungarian kings for nearly three centuries, as Pressburg. It became the capital of Slovakia in 1993 after the split of Czechoslovakia. The socialist era left tall housing blocks and the UFO bridge, while the old town has been carefully restored.
